Patience, a quality often linked with motherhood, proves indispensable in navigating the journey of raising a child. It involves staying focused on long-term goals and persisting through challenges. As a mother, patience enables me to be fully present, attentively listen to my child, and respond to her needs with warmth and understanding.
In the multifaceted role of motherhood, patience emerges as an ongoing discipline, especially evident after my little one celebrated her fourth birthday on November 13, 2022. This milestone marked a phase of increased expressions of discontent, manifesting as tantrums—a common aspect of her growth and toddlerhood. Recognizing tantrums as a natural part of her development, I initially responded with reassurance and embraced to acknowledge her emotions. However, as these outbursts became a daily occurrence, I encountered the challenge of physical resistance, leaving me emotionally bruised with kicks and pinches.
In the face of escalating emotional outbursts, I sometimes found myself on the verge of losing my temper. Despite refraining from expressing frustration towards my daughter, I found consolation in releasing suppressed emotions through shouts into the air. This struggle emphasized the crucial role of patience in the demanding realm of motherhood, where composure is vital.
Acknowledging the persistence of tantrums in our daily routine prompted a shift in approach—strategic detachment. Allowing her the space to vent until she naturally calmed down proved effective. There were instances when the exhaustion from emotional release led her to drift into sleep.
The journey of motherhood, particularly with a growing child, undeniably presents challenges. The weight of responsibility sometimes evoked tears, making me feel isolated in this parental battle. Yet, I discovered strength in solitude, fortified by unwavering faith. Continuous prayers for guidance and increased patience became my anchors, recognizing that resilience and determination define my identity as a strong, patient, and loving mother.
